Tigran Martikyan is an Armenian-American pianist; composer and educator, whose talent has
gotten the attention of celebrities such as Quincy Jones and Chick Korea, who described Tigran’s
music “Intellectual”. Kelly Ripa talked about Tigran on the "Kelly and Regis" show on national
television. In 2000, the New York Post introduced Tigran as one of New York’s most promising
young jazz musicians.

In 1998, Tigran won 1st prize at the Hilton Head Jazz Society Scholarship Competition, and has
become finalists in several jazz piano competitions. At age sixteen, Tigran won 2nd prize in a
song writing competition sponsored by the LAIC Cultural Community Center that same year.

He has given concerts throughout the Europe and US including one at Carnegie Hall,
where "Piano Sextet" was performed as a world premiere. Tigran has received number of
scholarships and certificates of achievement in music. He has been featured on Bloomberg Radio
in New York and the Armenian radio hour in New Jersey. His music has been aired several
times on the Jazz Discovery show case, "Bet on Jazz", a cable television in the US which was
broadcasted in the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

Regarding formal schooling, in 1998 Tigran earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz studies from USC
and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Music from the Manhattan School of Music in 2000.
Tigran manifested a talent for other instruments as well: as a teenager he was an accordion
virtuoso and has completed an eight year long cello course under the guidance of Tiruhi
Sargisyan in Tigran Chukajian Music School of Armenia.

From 2001 to 2009, Tigran was the New York resident accompanist to "Wee Dance", a
children’s ballet institute founded and directed by Susannah Harris. Ongoing, Tigran serves
as the house composer of the esteemed New York Film Synergy Group founded in 2006 by
director, actor and producer Tom Lassu. Tigran has scored several short films such as "Make a
night", "Lastre", "Cry" by director James Mehr, and "Gems and Jewels", an experimental film by
Lili White.

Tigran currently resides in Los Angeles, and is a part time staff member in a LAMA JAMS music
program of the LA Music Academy. In addition to teaching, Mr. Martikyan is active in performing and
composing music for a broad range of musical styles and genres including motion pictures. Several times, Mr.
Martikyan has been asked by his director friends to portrait musical characters on screen. He
played the pianist in the “The Necklace” written by Guy de Maupassant and directed by Anna
Condo, and several works of Tom Lassu, including "The Shiners", "Piano Man" and the comedy
series "The World's Greatest Tenor".
